Foam core board
(standard 40" x 36" piece)
2/3 yds. of 54" decorator fabric
1 1/2 yds. fringe
Hot glue gun, glue
2/3 yd. polyester batting
Cut foam core in half, lengthwise, creating a workable piece 40" x 15" or 18".

Valances and Curtain Panels
With great excitement the Curtain Rod Store introduces a beautiful new line of valances and curtain panels. Valances are very popular window treatments that work well on most windows. You can transform a room from casual to formal in minutes with the addition of a valance. Whether your room needs a simple fresh look or a more sophisticated look, the style and fabric of the valance you choose can add the finishing touch. Valances look perfect on the windows by themselves or you can change the appearance by combining curtains in coordinating fabrics.
Types of Curtain Valances
A valance is a top drapery treatment that can stand alone to enhance a window or it can be used to top another curtain. Adding a valance over the top of a curtain to cover the headrail of your undercurtain will give your window a finished look. The length can vary from 10 inches to as much as 28 inches. There are a multitude of styles such as scalloped, straight, and crescent to name a few. Using a decorative curtain rod that compliments your valance fabric and style will pull the entire room together.
